Debris had fallen two days ago, yet no warning was given. (X)
Bilaspur Bus Tragedy: The accident that occurred on Monday near the Bhallu Bridge in the Barthi area of Bilaspur district, Himachal Pradesh, has shocked the entire area. A private bus traveling from Marotan to Ghumarwin was suddenly struck by debris from a hill, completely crushing it. Around 30 passengers were on board. Five people died on the spot, while several others were seriously injured.
Local residents say this accident could have been avoided if the administration had taken the warning signs seriously. It is reported that debris had fallen from the same location two days earlier. At that time, the administration cleared the road but neither posted warning signs nor temporarily closed the road.
According to residents, the hill is already weak and sandy. During the rainy season, the soil and stones here slide easily. Despite this, warning signs were ignored at this place.
Local people have also alleged that illegal mining was going on in the area, which further reduced the strength of the hill. Many people claim that the sounds of heavy machines and tractor-trolleys were heard during the night. However, no official confirmation has been made by the administration in this regard.
Now, the public is raising questions:
Local people demand that there should be a high-level inquiry for the accident and strict action should be taken against the responsible officials.
